Sammer wünscht sich wieder Sportdirektor beim DFB
Matthias Sammer wünscht sich wieder einen Sportdirektor beim Deutschen Fußball-Bund (DFB). "Ein Sportsystem ohne einen übergeordneten sportlichen Leiter - das ist das Bild des Deutschen Fußball-Bundes. Ich habe genug Fehler gemacht in meinem Leben. Aber den Fehler, diese Position abzuschaffen, auf die Idee musst du erstmal kommen", sagte Sammer bei MagentaTV.
Der Europameister von 1996 hatte in dieser Funktion selber zwischen 2006 und 2012 beim DFB gearbeitet. Der 55-Jährige erhofft sich nun eine Wiedereinführung des Postens.
"Fakt ist, dass diese Person auch ein Stück weit verantwortlich ist für die großen Leitlinien", sagte Sammer: "Ein Sportdirektor gibt die großen Linien vor - und sie brauchen für meine Begriffe alle zwei Jahre ein Korrektiv, um an den kleinen Stellschrauben in die richtige Richtung zu drehen." Als einen möglichen Kandidaten brachte Sammer Rekordnationalspieler Lothar Matthäus ins Spiel.
