DFB-Krisengipfel um Flick-Zukunft hat begonnen
Der Krisengipfel beim Deutschen Fußball-Bund (DFB) um die Zukunft von Bundestrainer Hansi Flick hat begonnen. Sechs Tage nach dem blamablen WM-Aus der deutschen Nationalmannschaft ist Flick am frühen Mittwochnachmittag mit DFB-Präsident Bernd Neuendorf und Vize Hans-Joachim Watzke zusammengekommen.
Flick hat noch einen Vertrag bis zur Heim-EM 2024. Ob er diesen erfüllen darf und will, ist offen. Unmittelbar nach dem WM-Aus hatte er noch bekundet, bleiben zu wollen.
Das mit Spannung erwartete Treffen fand im Kempinski Hotel Gravenbruch in Neu-Isenburg bei Frankfurt statt. Der DFB hatte versucht, den Ort geheim zu halten. Zuerst berichtete die Bild-Zeitung darüber.
Watzke traf demnach um 13.57 Uhr ein, Neuendorf folgte um 14.06 Uhr. Flick fuhr als Letzter in der Dreierrunde um 14.26 Uhr vor.
Der 57-Jährige steht nach dem Scheitern in der WM-Vorrunde massiv unter Druck. Neuendorf hatte noch vor der Abreise aus Katar am vergangenen Freitag eine umfassende Analyse von ihm gefordert.
Zugleich ist Flick getroffen vom Abschied seines engen Vertrauten Oliver Bierhoff nach 18 Jahren beim DFB. Der Geschäftsführer hatte am Montagabend wohl nicht ganz freiwillig hingeworfen.
