Premier League pulverisiert eigenen Transferrekord
Die englische Premier League hat mit Abschluss des Winterfensters ihren eigenen Transferrekord gebrochen. Demnach haben die 20 Erstligisten in der Saison 2022/23 für neue Spieler knapp über drei Milliarden Euro und damit fast doppelt so viel wie bei der bisherigen Bestmarke ausgegeben. Der alte Transferrekord für eine Spielzeit war bereits im Sommer mit über zwei Milliarden geknackt worden.
Im Wintertransferfenster investierten die Klubs nun nochmals über 800 Millionen Euro und damit doppelt so viel wie im Rekord-Winter 2018. Die Ausgaben der Premier League machten damit 79 Prozent der Gesamtausgaben der fünf großen europäischen Fußball-Ligen aus. Der FC Chelsea gab im Januar mit 329,50 Millionen Euro mehr aus als die Bundesliga, La Liga, die Serie A und die Ligue 1 zusammen.
Am 31. Januar wurden in den letzten Stunden des Transferfensters in England fast 300 Millionen Euro ausgegeben, doppelt so viel wie am bislang investionsfreudigsten Deadline Day.
