Biathlon: Vanessa Hinz beendet aktive Karriere
Biathletin Vanessa Hinz beendet mit sofortiger Wirkung ihre aktive Karriere. Das teilte der Deutsche Skiverband (DSV) am Samstag vier Tage vor dem Start der Heim-WM in Oberhof mit. "Schon im Sommer war für mich klar, dass ich in meine letzte Saison gehe", wird die 31-Jährige in der Mitteilung zitiert. Hinz hatte in diesem Winter aufgrund von Krankheiten und Verletzungen die Qualifikation für die WM verpasst.
"Mein Körper und mein Kopf haben mir gezeigt, dass mit 31 Jahren Schluss sein soll mit Leistungssport. Ich bin absolut bereit für den nächsten Lebensabschnitt", so Hinz, die 2012 vom Langlauf auf Biathlon umgestiegen war. Seitdem sammelte die Athletin vom Skiclub Schliersee unter anderem sieben WM-Medaillen, darunter dreimal Gold in Staffelwettbewerben. Zuletzt gewann Hinz Bronze mit der Frauenstaffel bei den Olympischen Winterspielen 2022 in Peking.
