Volleyball: Sportdirektor Dünnes verlässt den DVV
Der Deutsche Volleyball-Verband und Sportdirektor Christian Dünnes gehen getrennte Wege. Der 38-Jährige verlässt den DVV nach fast sechs Jahren laut Mitteilung "auf eigenen Wunsch". Dies sei "das Ergebnis mehrtägiger Gespräche" zwischen Vorstand, Präsidium und Dünnes. Der Verband arbeitet nach eigenen Angaben bereits gemeinsam mit der Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) an der Nachbesetzung.
"Wir wären gerne den eingeschlagenen Weg mit ihm weitergegangen", wird DVV-Präsident Rene Hecht zitiert: "Für seine geleistete Arbeit gelten ihm unser Dank und Respekt. Er wird beim Volleyball immer ein gern gesehener Gast sein." Dünnes selbst sieht für sich und den Verband die "Zeit für einen Neuanfang" gekommen: "Ich blicke auf eine sehr spannende und intensive Zeit beim DVV zurück, die mir positiv in Erinnerung bleiben wird."
Dünnes hatte den Posten im Mai 2017 übernommen, in seine Amtszeit fallen der Vize-Europameistertitel der Männer im Jahr 2017, außerdem gewann die männliche U18 EM-Gold 2018, die U17 holte im vergangenen Jahr EM-Bronze. Bis ein Nachfolger gefunden ist, wird Nachwuchs-Bundestrainer Dominic von Känel übergangsweise Ansprechpartner für die Belange im Leistungssport sein. In diesem Jahr stehen für die Nationalmannschaft der Frauen und Männer neben der Nations League auch die Olympia-Qualifikationsturniere sowie die Europameisterschaften an.
