Kombination: Weinbuch will weiter wirken
Der scheidende Bundestrainer Hermann Weinbuch will in einer anderen Funktion an der Weiterentwicklung der Nordischen Kombination in Deutschland mitarbeiten. Er hoffe, sagte der 63-Jährige nach dem Weltcupfinale in Lahti, dass er eine Aufgabe bekomme, "die es mir ermöglicht, dass ich den Nachwuchs und das ganze Team technisch verbessern kann". Darauf werde es in Zukunft verstärkt ankommen.
Weinbuch gibt sein Bundestraineramt nach insgesamt 27 Jahren ab, auch der siebenmalige Weltmeister Eric Frenzel (34) beendete in Finnland seine Karriere. "Es wird ein Umbruch stattfinden müssen, junge Athleten müssen herangeführt werden", sagte Weinbuch und lobte Julian Schmid (23), der im Gesamtweltcup Dritter geworden war.
"Julian hat mir viel Freude gemacht. Er ist ein junges, aufstrebendes Talent. Ich hoffe, dass er die Mannschaft mitreißt, jemand wie Vinzenz Geiger braucht ihn", sagte Weinbuch. Der Erfolgstrainer hat längst neue Anforderungen an die Kombinierer erkannt, die bislang vor allem Schmid im deutschen Team erfüllt.
Seriensieger Jarl Magnus Riiber (Norwegen) sei "eigentlich ein Spezialspringer", er nötige alle anderen "zum Umdenken", sagte Weinbuch: "Es muss mehr für das Skispringen getan werden, auch das Gewicht muss angeglichen werden. Da hat sich die Kombination verändert."
Riiber hatte in Finnland am Wochenende seine Saisonsiege sieben und acht gefeiert. Auf der Schanze ist der viermalige Weltmeister von Planica überragend. Im Gesamtweltcup wurde er nur Vierter, weil er acht Wettbewerbe in diesem Winter verpasste.
