ELF: Abstecher ins Volksparkstadion als Meilenstein
Die Verantwortlichen der European League of Football (ELF) sehen die Highlightpartie im Hamburger Volksparkstadion als echten Meilenstein an. "Es wird ein spannendes, ein wichtiges Spiel für uns als Liga", sagte Liga-Commissioner Patrick Esume dem SID am Rande einer Pressekonferenz in der Hansestadt: "In dem Setting vor einer großen Kulisse ist es natürlich eine besondere Motivation."
Die Hamburg Sea Devils ziehen für ihr erstes Heimspiel der neuen Saison gegen Düsseldorf Rhein Fire am 11. Juni in die große Arena um und haben die Marke von 15.000 verkauften Tickets bereits übertroffen. "Alles über 20.000 ist für mich ein Riesenerfolg", sagte Esume: "Aber es könnten auch 30.000 werden." Maximal 57.000 Fans könnten Platz finden.
General Manager Max Paatz von den Sea Devils kündigte ein umfangreiches Rahmenprogramm an und erwartet, dass es auch in Zukunft immer wieder Heimspiele im größten Stadion der Stadt geben werde. "Die Idee, ins Volksparkstadion zu gehen, gab es von Anfang an, seit wir 2021 gegründet wurden", sagte Paatz.
Seine Franchise kooperiert mit dem Fußball-Zweitligisten Hamburger SV, der Hauptnutzer des Volksparkstadion ist.
