44.808 Fans haben beim ausverkauften DFB-Pokalfinale der Frauen in Köln für eine Rekordkulisse beim eigenständigen Endspiel in der Rhein-Metropole gesorgt. Der Zuschauerzuspruch beim Duell zwischen dem VfL Wolfsburg und dem SC Freiburg überbot die bisherige Bestmarke von 26.282 Zuschauern bei der Premiere im Jahr 2010 deutlich. An selber Stelle war im April bereits der Rekord der Frauen-Bundesliga (38.365) gesprengt worden.
DFB-Präsident Bernd Neuendorf lobte den seit der EM 2022 anhaltenden Boom im deutschen Frauenfußball ausdrücklich: "Das ist eine tolle Entwicklung und wir gehen den Weg entschlossen weiter."
