Roßkopf übt Kritik: "Turnierkalender ist proppenvoll"
Bundestrainer Jörg Roßkopf hat Kritik an der Terminhatz im Tischtennis geübt. "Der Turnierkalender ist proppenvoll. Die Spieler sind viel zu viel unterwegs, haben viel zu wenig Trainingsphasen", sagte der 53-Jährige unmittelbar vor den Weltmeisterschaften in Durban/Südafrika (ab Samstag) sportschau.de.
Er sei "aktuell einfach nicht zufrieden", wie seine Spieler auf das Highlight des Jahres vorbereitet seien: "Deswegen müssen wir uns mit allen Bereichen an einen Tisch setzen, um da eine Verbesserung rein zu bringen."
Man könne "vielleicht Parallelen zum Handball ziehen. Das ist eine tolle Sportart, mit einer tollen Bundesliga", so Roßkopf: "Aber als Außenstehender finde ich, dass die Nationalmannschaft oft nicht gut vorbereitet zu den großen Turnieren reist. Die leidet einfach durch die vielen Spiele in der Liga. Ganz ähnlich ist das auch bei uns."
Das Problem betreffe aber nicht nur das deutsche Tischtennis. "Wenn ich mich aktuell international umschaue, alle sind müde, alle sind in keiner guten Verfassung", sagte Roßkopf: "Da muss sich der Weltverband auch Gedanken machen."
