Hülkenberg: "Barcelona sollte uns besser liegen"
Formel-1-Pilot Nico Hülkenberg verspricht sich von der Rückkehr auf eine klassische Rennstrecke beim Großen Preis von Spanien eine Trendwende für sein Haas-Team. "Barcelona sollte uns besser liegen. Die Strecke ist sehr flüssig, wie Melbourne oder Dschidda", sagte der 35-Jährige vor dem siebten Saisonrennen (Sonntag, 15.00 Uhr/Sky und Youtube-Kanal von Sky Sport DE).
"Wir werden hoffentlich auch ein gutes Ergebnis erreichen", führte Hülkenberg aus, der beim Großen Preis von Australien im April als Siebter sein mit Abstand bestes Ergebnis der bisherigen Saison erzielt hatte. Bei den folgenden drei Rennen auf den Stadtkursen von Baku, Miami und Monte Carlo lief für das Haas-Team dagegen nicht mehr viel zusammen. Nun erwartet Hülkenberg auch, einen "Eindruck zu bekommen, wie unsere Updates greifen" - trotz der veränderten Streckenführung.
In Barcelona wird die von den Fahrern ungeliebte Schikane vor der Zielkurve nicht mehr durchfahren, stattdessen geht es nun durch zwei schnelle Rechtskurven auf die mehr als einen Kilometer lange Start-Ziel-Gerade. Das Wegfallen des bislang langsamsten Streckenabschnitts hat Auswirkungen auf die Abstimmung der Rennwagen und wird auch die Materialbelastung vergrößern.
