Der Aufstieg in die Fußball-Bundesliga ist schon wieder ganz weit weg, sportliche Gründe für das nötige Wunder sind schwer zu finden - also beschwören sie beim schwer geschlagenen Hamburger SV die Energie des eigenen Stadions. "Ganz ehrlich", sagte Trainer Tim Walter nach dem harten 0:3 (0:1) im Relegations-Hinspiel beim VfB Stuttgart: "Meine Hoffnung ist jetzt der Volkspark."
Im Rückspiel am Montag (20.45 Uhr/Sat.1 und Sky) sollen die Fans den Zweitligisten zu einer großen Leistung tragen, die wird allerdings auch nötig sein. "Wir werden uns schütteln, und dann wird alles investiert, das ist der Charakter dieser Mannschaft", sagte Walter: "Es ist etwas entstanden zwischen Team und Fans. Wir wollen sie belohnen." Auch der am Donnerstag starke HSV-Torwart Daniel Heuer Fernandes kündigte für das Rückspiel "Vollgas-Fußball" an.
In Stuttgart allerdings war der HSV deutlich unterlegen, hätte bei Treffern von Konstantinos Mavropanos (1.), Josha Vagnoman (51.) und Serhou Guirassy (54.) auch höher verlieren können. "So eine Leistung, so ein Ergebnis machen die ganze Sache nicht einfacher", sagte HSV-Sportvorstand Jonas Boldt bei Sky: "Wir werfen weiter alles in die Waagschale, um auf ein Wunder zu hoffen, aber ein Wunder muss es dann auch sein."
In Stuttgart will man sich zumindest noch nicht in Sicherheit wiegen. Die "Art und Weise" des Sieges sei wichtig gewesen, sagte Trainer Sebastian Hoeneß, "aber ich habe direkt eine Botschaft an die Mannschaft gesetzt: Wir sind uns klar, dass das nur der erste Schritt war. Es ist Halbzeitpause, und in der Halbzeit ist noch kein Spiel entschieden worden."
