Schalke: Hechelmann wird zum Sportdirektor befördert
Bundesliga-Absteiger Schalke 04 hat Andre Hechelmann zum Sportdirektor befördert. Der bisherige Chefscout übernimmt ab sofort die Verantwortung für den Lizenzspielerbereich, wie die Königsblauen am Freitag mitteilten.
"Wir sind zu 100 Prozent von Andre überzeugt. Er hatte die Aufgaben, gemeinsam mit Rene Grotus, bereits in den vergangenen acht Monaten interimistisch übernommen", sagte Vorstand Peter Knäbel: "Die Verpflichtung von Moritz Jenz ist ein hervorragendes Beispiel für Andres Arbeit: Das Potenzial dieses Spielers haben nicht viele gesehen."
Der Sportdirektor-Posten auf Schalke war seit Oktober vakant, nachdem Rouven Schröder den Klub verlassen hatte. Hechelmanns Ziel ist klar - die Rückkehr in die Bundesliga. "Ich gehe meine neue Rolle mit einem klaren inhaltlichen Plan, einem Zweiklang an: Kurzfristig wollen wir den Aufstieg in die Bundesliga angehen, an den notwendigen Entscheidungen arbeiten wir bereits seit einigen Monaten und setzen diese nun um", sagte er.
