Hochsprung: Honsel WM-Achte - Ukrainerin Mahutschich siegt
Christina Honsel (Wattenscheid) ist zum Abschluss der Leichtathletik-WM in Budapest gute Achte im Hochsprung geworden. Die 26-Jährige überquerte am Sonntagabend 1,94 m, das reichte zu einer weiteren Top-Acht-Platzierung für das deutsche Team in Ungarn.
Zur Weltmeisterin krönte sich mit übersprungenen 2,01 m die Ukrainerin Jaroslawa Mahutschich, die auch für ihre Landsleute triumphierte. Anschließend scheiterte sie dreimal an ihrer persönlichen Bestleistung von 2,07 m.
"Wir wollen mit unseren Leistungen zeigen, dass die Ukraine nicht besiegbar ist, auch wenn Russland unserem Land weiter viele schlimme Dinge antut", hatte die 21 Jahre alte Europameisterin im Vorfeld der Rheinischen Post gesagt. Mahutschich ist die einzige ukrainische Weltmeisterin in Budapest.
Silber ging an Titelverteidigerin Eleanor Patterson (Australien/1,99), Bronze sicherte sich ihre höhengleiche Landsfrau Nicola Olyslagers (1,99). Johanna Göring (Kornwestheim/1,85) war in der Qualifikation ausgeschieden.
