Rückkehrerin Gwinn: Olympia-Quali als Chance nach WM-Fiasko
Rückkehrerin Giulia Gwinn sieht die anstehende Nations League als willkommene Chance für die deutschen Fußballerinnen nach dem WM-Debakel. "Es ist gut, dass es wieder um etwas geht und man die berechtigte Kritik wieder wettmachen kann", sagte Gwinn dem Sport-Informations-Dienst (SID). Die Außenverteidigerin des FC Bayern gibt fast ein Jahr nach ihrem zweiten Kreuzbandriss ihr Comeback beim DFB-Team.
Der "Schlüssel" werde sein, "dass man die WM aufarbeitet und es nicht einfach so weiterläuft, wie es war", führte die 24-Jährige aus: "Aber dass man es trotzdem schafft, auch wieder eine gewisse Leichtigkeit reinzubringen. Es ist wichtig, dass man dieses Selbstkritische ummünzt."
Ohne die erkrankte Bundestrainerin Martina Voss-Tecklenburg bereiten sich die Vize-Europameisterinnen ab Montag in Frankfurt vor. Über die neue Nations League läuft die Qualifikation für Olympia 2024 in Paris, nur zwei europäische Tickets werden vergeben.
Am Freitag geht es in Viborg gegen Dänemark (18.00 Uhr/ARD) und am 26. September in Bochum gegen Island. Das Ziel Sommerspiele bezeichnete Gwinn als "coole Herausforderung, sich da zu messen und diesen Turniercharakter zu haben. Und am Ende vielleicht auch um eine Medaille zu spielen. Das ist unser Anspruch".
Ihre Nominierung durch Co-Trainerin Britta Carlson machte die 33-malige Nationalspielerin "total stolz". Nach der erneut langen Reha und der verpassten WM in Australien sei es "schön zu merken, dass sich die harte Arbeit auszahlt."
