Matthäus: DFB-Elf "einer der EM-Favoriten"
Rekordnationalspieler Lothar Matthäus traut der deutschen Fußball-Nationalmannschaft bei der Heim-EM einiges zu - sogar den Titel. "Die Mannschaft ist einer der Favoriten auf die Europameisterschaft. Wir haben Heimvorteil. Die deutschen Fans erwarten gute Ergebnisse, und mit ein bisschen Glück haben wir die Chance, nach 28 Jahren wieder Europameister zu werden", sagte Matthäus dem SID bei einem Interwetten-Termin in Frankfurt.
Bundestrainer Julian Nagelsmann verfüge zudem über "große Spieler mit viel Erfahrung", so der langjährige DFB-Kapitän: "Wir haben Toni Kroos, wir haben Gündogan, Thomas Müller auf seine Art und Weise, auch wenn er vielleicht nicht gesetzt ist. Aber er ist wichtig für die Kabine, ein Ansprechpartner für die jungen Spieler." Man brauche ja nur, so Matthäus weiter, "die Namen der Vereine durchgehen".
Das Topspiel der Bundesliga am Samstag (18.30 Uhr/Sky) zwischen dem FC Bayern und Borussia Dortmund sei in Deutschland gerade "nicht mehr das Spiel, in dem die Meisterschaft entschieden wird", sagte Matthäus. Aber im Ausland sei die Partie "nach wie vor dieser Klassiker. Ich gehe davon aus, dass dieses Spiel weltweit wieder hohe Einschaltquoten hat."
