Medien: Xabi Alonso kein Kandidat in Liverpool
Bayer Leverkusens Erfolgstrainer Xabi Alonso ist offenbar kein ernsthafter Kandidat für die Nachfolge des scheidenden Teammanagers Jürgen Klopp beim FC Liverpool. Wie ESPN und Sky Sports UK unter Berufung auf Quellen aus dem Klub-Umfeld berichten, steht der frühere Liverpool-Profi Alonso nicht auf der Shortlist der Reds bei der Trainersuche.
Demnach seien Roberto De Zerbi von Brighton & Hove Albion und Ruben Amorim von Sporting Lissabon die Topkandidaten, um das Klopp-Erbe anzutreten. Der deutsche Teammanager, der seit 2015 im Amt ist, hatte seinen Abschied zum Saisonende verkündet. Alonso hatte mit Liverpool 2005 die Champions League gewonnen und besitzt an der Anfield Road einen hervorragenden Ruf.
Da in Real Madrid auch ein weiterer Ex-Klub des Spaniers nach der Vertragsverlängerung mit Carlo Ancelotti keinen Bedarf hat, läuft wohl alles auf zwei Optionen für Alonso hinaus: Entweder bleibt er in Leverkusen, wo er noch bis 2026 unter Vertrag steht. Oder der FC Bayern hat mit seinem Werben um den begehrten Coach als Nachfolger von Thomas Tuchel Erfolg.
