Center Isaiah Hartenstein (25) hat mit den New York Knicks im Spitzenspiel der NBA gegen die Boston Celtics einen Prestigeerfolg gefeiert. Die ebenfalls bereits für die Play-offs qualifizierten Knicks bezwangen das beste Hauptrundenteam mit 118:109 und festigten zwei Spieltage vor Ende der Regular Season ihren dritten Platz im Osten.
Hartenstein schaffte in 33 Minuten Einsatzzeit mit 13 Rebounds und elf Punkten ein Double-Double, dazu gelangen noch sechs Assists. Matchwinner für New York war Guard Jalen Brunson mit 39 Punkten. Die Celtics schonten derweil in Teilen der Partie ihre Stars, verteilten die Spielzeit. Bester Werfer war Jayson Tatum mit 18 Zählern.
Die beste Ausgangsposition für den letzten direkten Play-off-Platz im Westen verschafften sich die New Orleans Pelicans durch ein 135:123 gegen die Sacramento Kings. Bei noch zwei ausstehenden Spielen liegen die Pelicans einen Sieg vor den siebtplatzierten Phoenix Suns. Die Kings müssen derweil den Umweg über das Play-In-Turnier nehmen.
