Achter erreicht Weltcup-Endlauf - Zeidler gewinnt Halbfinale
Der Deutschland-Achter hat seine Pflichtaufgabe im Hoffnungslauf erledigt und das Finale beim ersten Weltcup des Olympia-Jahres erreicht. Wie schon im Vorlauf landete das Flaggschiff des Deutschen Ruderverbandes (DRV) am Samstag im italienischen Varese auf dem zweiten Rang, der Rückstand auf Italien betrug rund eine halbe Sekunde. Von den fünf Booten schafften es vier in den Endlauf.
Der Achter um Schlagmann Hannes Ocik steht damit am Sonntag (14.15 Uhr) ebenso im Finale wie Oliver Zeidler (13.43 Uhr). Der Einer-Weltmeister gewann das Halbfinale mit knapp 1,5 Sekunden Vorsprung vor seinem starken Konkurrenten Simon Van Dorp (Niederlande) und untermauerte damit seine Favoritenstellung.
Nach dem Weltcup steht für die Ruderer die Europameisterschaft in Szeged/Ungarn (25. bis 28. April) auf dem Programm.
