Golf: Dritte Masters-Runde wird für Woods zum Albtraum
Erst der Rekord, dann der historische Einbruch: Golf-Superstar Tiger Woods muss den Traum von seinem sechsten Triumph beim 88. Masters in Augusta nach einer desaströsen dritten Runde begraben. Der langjährige Weltranglistenerste spielte am Samstag eine 82 und lag damit zehn Schläge über Par - es war die schlechteste seiner nun bereits 99 Runden in Augusta.
Nachdem er am Vortag zum 24. Mal in Folge beim Masters den Cut geschafft und damit einen Rekord aufgestellt hatte, kam der 15-malige Major-Champion Woods zunehmend in die Bredouille. Der 48-Jährige, der bei einem Autounfall 2021 schwere Beinverletzungen erlitten hatte, wirkte dabei zeitweise, als habe er Schwierigkeiten, die Runden zu laufen.
Am Freitag hatte Woods bei acht Schlägen Rückstand noch erklärt, an seine Chance auf den Gewinn seines sechsten Grünen Jacketts und die damit einhergehende Einstellung des Rekords von Jack Nicklaus zu glauben. Nach dem dritten Tag ist diese Chance nun dahin.
Als einziger Deutscher im Feld war Stephan Jäger bereits am Cut gescheitert.
