Äthiopier Lemma gewinnt Boston-Marathon
Der Äthiopier Sisay Lemma hat erstmals den traditionsreichen Boston-Marathon gewonnen. Der 33-Jährige, der nach der Hälfte der Strecke mehr als zwei Minuten vor dem Rest des Feldes lag, verwies in 2:06:17 Stunden seinen Landsmann Mohamed Esa (2:06:58) klar auf Rang zwei. Topfavorit Evans Chebet verpasste auf dem dritten Platz seinen dritten Boston-Triumph in Folge, damit riss auch die Serie von zuletzt vier Siegen eines Kenianers.
Lemma ist der erste Sieger aus Äthiopien seit Lemi Berhanu im Jahr 2016. 2021 hatte er bereits den London-Marathon, 2023 den in Valencia gewonnen.
Insgesamt waren 30.000 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer beim ältesten jährlich ausgetragenen Marathon am Start.
