Matthäus zur Münchner Trainersuche: "Traue es Rangnick zu"
Für Rekordnationalspieler Lothar Matthäus sind Roger Schmidt und vor allem Ralf Rangnick die Favoriten auf den Trainerposten beim Fußball-Rekordmeister FC Bayern. "Die deutsche Sprache ist für mich elementar wichtig", erklärte der 63-Jährige in der Sport Bild: "Rangnick ist ein Entwickler, der mit seinem alten Weggefährten Christoph Freund auch am Campus gute Impulse setzen könnte."
Dafür müsse aber "die Chemie mit allen Beteiligten passen", sagte Matthäus: "Ich traue es Rangnick zu. Klar ist aber auch: Jeder Trainer, der jetzt kommt, ist nicht mehr erste oder zweite Wahl. Es wird eine schwere Aufgabe, den künftigen Trainer davon zu überzeugen, dass dieser selbst davon überzeugt ist, der Richtige zu sein", sagte Matthäus.
Beim im Sommer scheidenden Trainer Thomas Tuchel werde Bayern derweil "nicht die Rolle rückwärts machen", sagte Matthäus: "Es wirkt so, als sei das Team mit Tuchel in der Champions League eine Zweckgemeinschaft, die sich zusammengerauft hat." Auch in dieser Konstellation traut er den Münchnern, die im Halbfinale auf Real Madrid treffen, jedoch den großen Coup zu. Auf die Frage, wer die Königsklasse gewinnt, antwortete Matthäus: "Wenn ich mich festlegen muss: Bayern München."
