Norway's Atle Lie McGrath was fastest down the first leg of the final men's World Cup slalom before the Winter Olympics on Wednesday.

The Norwegian clocked 53.12 seconds under floodlights in the Austrian resort of Schladming.

Veteran teammate Henrik Kristoffersen sat second, with in-form Swiss racer Loic Meillard in third.

Just five other racers came within a second of McGrath, including Olympic champion Clement Noel of France (+0.88sec).

Meillard won Tuesday's giant slalom in Schladming ahead of Brazilian Lucas Pinheiro Braathen and France's Alban Elezi Cannaferina.
