Nations League: Frankreich besiegt Rangnicks Österreicher
Fußball-Weltmeister Frankreich findet zwei Monate vor dem WM-Auftakt in Katar so langsam in die Spur. Das ersatzgeschwächte Team von Nationaltrainer Didier Deschamps gewann am Donnerstag sein Nations-League-Spiel in St. Denis gegen Österreich um Teamchef Ralf Rangnick mit 2:0 (0:0) und darf nach dem ersten Saisonsieg auf den Verbleib in der A-Liga hoffen.
Superstar Kylian Mbappe (56.) und Olivier Giroud (65.) schossen die Franzosen zum Sieg gegen die Österreicher, bei denen der Ex-Bremer Marko Arnautovic sein 103. Länderspiel absolvierte und mit Rekordspieler Andreas Herzog gleichzog.
Zuvor hatte Titelverteidiger Frankreich im Juni zum Nations-League-Start zwei Niederlagen sowie zwei Remis verbucht und dadurch bereits die Chancen auf das Finalturnier 2023 verspielt.
In der Gruppe A1 verwies die Equipe Tricolore (fünf Punkte) nun Österreich (vier Punkte) auf den letzten Platz. Die Entscheidung über den Abstieg fällt am kommenden Sonntag (20.45 Uhr/DAZN), wenn Frankreich nach Dänemark reist und die Österreicher auf Vize-Weltmeister Kroatien treffen.
Zwei Monate vor Beginn der Weltmeisterschaft in Katar (20. November bis 18. Dezember) musste Deschamps am Donnerstag auf Torhüter Hugo Lloris, Karim Benzema, Paul Pogba, N'Golo Kante sowie Kingsley Coman und Lucas Hernandez von Bayern München verzichten.
