Mikrochip-Hersteller Nvidia erreicht Marktwert von mehr als einer Billion Dollar
Der US-Mikrochip-Hersteller Nvidia hat einen Börsenwert von mehr als einer Billion Dollar (rund 933 Milliarden Euro) erreicht. Der Preis der Aktie des Unternehmens aus dem kalifornischen Santa Clara legte am Dienstag um zwischenzeitlich mehr als 4,8 Prozent auf über 408 Dollar zu. Angetrieben von dem Boom um Künstliche Intelligenz (KI) war der Aktienkurs in der vergangenen Woche bereits um mehr als 25 Prozent angestiegen.
Nvidia ist jetzt in den sehr exklusiven Kreis der Unternehmen mit einer Marktkapitalisierung von mehr als einer Billion Dollar vorgestoßen. Einen solchen Börsenwert haben ansonsten nur der Technologiekonzern Apple, der Softwareriese Microsoft, der Online-Handelsgigant Amazon, der Google-Mutterkonzern Alphabet und der saudiarabische Ölkonzern Aramco.
Nvidia war vor 30 Jahren von dem US-Taiwaner Jen-Hsun "Jensen" Huang gegründet worden. Das Unternehmen konzentrierte sich zunächst auf Grafikkarten, die Computerspielern besser auflösende Bilder boten. Die hoch leistungsfähigen Mikrochips werden inzwischen aber auch bei der Entwicklung von Künstlicher Intelligenz genutzt.
