Bundestag erinnert mit Gedenkstunde an DDR-Volksaufstand vom 17. Juni 1953
Mit einer Gedenkstunde würdigt der Bundestag am Freitag (09.00 Uhr) den 70. Jahrestag des Volksaufstandes in der DDR vom 17. Juni 1953. Die zentrale Rede hält Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Zudem werden vier Augenzeugenberichte vom damaligen Tag vorgetragen. Die Augenzeugen, die in der DDR politisch verfolgt und inhaftiert wurden, sind bei der Gedenkstunde anwesend.
Außerdem wird ein Tondokument von einer Versammlung von Arbeitern des Elektromotorenwerks in Wernigerode vom damaligen Tag abgespielt. 1953 hatten in zahlreichen Städten und Gemeinden der damaligen DDR Arbeiter zunächst gegen Erhöhungen ihrer Arbeitsnormen protestiert, später hatten Demonstranten dann auch freie Wahlen gefordert. In der DDR stationierte sowjetische Truppen schlugen den Aufstand nieder.
