Stark-Watzinger betont enge Kooperation mit Frankreich bei KI und Supercomputing
Bundesforschungsministerin Bettina Stark-Watzinger (FDP) hat anlässlich der deutsch-französischen Kabinettsklausur in Hamburg die enge Zusammenarbeit beider Länder beim Thema Künstliche Intelligenz (KI) und Supercomputing betont. "KI ist die Schlüsseltechnologie des 21. Jahrhunderts. Wir müssen sie europäisch denken", sagte Stark-Watzinger am Dienstag der Nachrichtenagentur AFP. Das deutsch-französische Tandem sei dabei von entscheidender Bedeutung.
"Mit den deutsch-französischen Projekten schaffen wir die Grundlage für technologische Souveränität und die Entwicklung vertrauenswürdiger KI 'Made in Europe'", sagte die Ministerin weiter. Dabei werde es vor allem auf leistungsfähige KI-Infrastruktur ankommen. "Deutschland und Frankreich treiben deshalb den Ausbau von Supercomputing-Kapazitäten in der EU voran." Sie verwies darauf, dass die ersten beiden Exascale-Supercomputer in Europa nach Deutschland und Frankreich kommen sollen.
"Wir kooperieren hier eng und wollen so den Zugang zu KI-Infrastruktur erleichtern", sagte Stark-Watzinger. Das sei gerade für Start-ups sowie kleine und mittlere Unternehmen von Bedeutung. "Unser Ziel ist, die langjährige und erfolgreiche Zusammenarbeit von Deutschland und Frankreich weiter zu vertiefen", betonte die Ministerin.
Bei der deutsch-französischen Kabinettsklausur soll es am Dienstagvormittag um das Thema technologische Souveränität gehen. So soll etwa über geeignete Instrumente zur Förderung von Forschung und Lehre sowie von Wissenstransfer in die Privatwirtschaft diskutiert werden.
