Aktivisten: Scholz und Macron sind "Totengräber" des Klimas
Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD) und der französische Präsident Emmanuel Macron sind die "Totengräber" des Klimaschutzes - so jedenfalls sehen es Umweltaktivisten. Mitglieder der Organisation Avaaz inszenierten am Mittwoch in Brüssel eine symbolische Beerdigung des "Green Deal", mit dem die EU bis 2050 klimaneutral werden will. Anlass war die Einstufung von Atomkraft und des fossilen Energieträgers Gas als nachhaltig durch die EU-Kommission.
Bei der Protestaktion vor dem Kommissionssitz im Brüsseler Europaviertel trugen Avaaz-Aktivisten Masken von Scholz und Macron und schaufelten dem Klimaschutz ein Grab. Hinter einem Grabstein mit der Aufschrift "RIP EU Green Deal" (Ruhe in Frieden, grüner Deal der EU) hielt eine Demonstrantin mit dem Konterfei von EU-Kommissionspräsidentin Ursula von der Leyen einen Blumenstrauß mit Trauerflor in der Hand.
Von der Leyen verpasse Atomenergie und Gas damit "einen grünen Anstrich" und töte die EU-Klimapläne, kritisierte Avaaz. Der umstrittene Beschluss der EU-Kommission beruht auf einem deutsch-französischen Kompromiss, nachdem sich Paris für Atom und Berlin für Gas eingesetzt hatte.
Durch die sogenannte Taxonomie sollen Milliardeninvestitionen privater Investoren in Öko-Energien gelenkt werden, um die EU bis 2050 klimaneutral zu machen. Umweltschützer befürchten, dass dringend benötigtes Geld für den Ausbau von Wind- oder Sonnenenergie nun in Atom- und Gasanlagen fließen könnte.
