Erster Weltraumtourist Dennis Tito will jetzt den Mond umrunden
Der erste Weltraumtourist der Geschichte, Dennis Tito, hat wieder Sehnsucht nach dem All - und will jetzt den Mond umrunden. Der 82-jährige US-Unternehmer gab am Mittwoch bekannt, für sich und seine Ehefrau Akiko zwei Plätze bei einer künftigen Mondumrundung mit dem privaten Raumfahrtunternehmen SpaceX von High-Tech-Milliardär Elon Musk reserviert zu haben.
"Seit meinem ersten Flug ins All brenne ich weiter für den Weltraum und die Möglichkeiten, die er für die gesamte Menschheit bietet", sagte Tito bei einer Telefonkonferenz mit Journalisten. "Das führt mich zu dieser Mission." Wieviel er für die Raumflüge bezahlt, sagte Tito nicht. Es gibt demnach aber noch zehn freie Plätze.
Der ausgebildete Luft- und Raumfahrtingenieur und spätere Finanzinvestor war 2001 als erster Weltraumtourist ins All geflogen. Eine russische Sojus-Kapsel brachte Tito damals zur Internationalen Raumstation (ISS), Kostenpunkt: 20 Millionen Dollar.
Den Mond umrunden will Tito nun mit der künftigen Starship-Rakete von SpaceX, die sich noch in der Entwicklung befindet. Er wird aber nicht der erste Starship-Weltraumtourist. Vor ihm soll eine Gruppe um den japanischen Milliardär Yusaku Maezawa den Mond umrunden, Maezawa hat gleich alle Plätze der Mission "dearMoon" gebucht. Dieser Flug ist frühestens für 2023 geplant, dürfte aber erst deutlich später erfolgen.
