Lindsay Lohan wegen Werbung für Kryptowährung im Visier der Finanzmarktaufsicht
Schauspielerin Lindsay Lohan ist ins Visier der US-Finanzmarktaufsicht SEC geraten, weil sie irreführende Werbung für Kryptowährungen gemacht haben soll. Wie die Behörde am Mittwoch mitteilte, willigte Lohan angesichts der Vorwürfe in die Zahlung von 40.670 Dollar (gut 37.000 Euro) ein - ohne jedoch ihre Schuld einzugestehen. Ihr wurde vorgeworfen, für Krypto-Werbung in Online-Netzwerken Geld bekommen, aber die Bezahlung nicht öffentlich angegeben zu haben.
Der gleiche Vorwurf wurde auch gegen weitere Promis erhoben. Youtube-Star Jake Paul willigte den Angaben zufolge deshalb in die Zahlung von gut 100.000 Dollar ein. Ebenfalls gütlich einigte sich die SEC mit der als Kendra Lust bekannten Porno-Schauspielerin Michele Mason, Rapper Lil Yachty sowie den Sängern Ne-Yo und Akon.
Die Genannten sind nicht die ersten Promis, die wegen irreführender Werbung für Kryptowährungen ins Visier der SEC gerieten. So zahlte Reality-TV-Star Kim Kardashian angesichts ähnlicher Vorwürfe im vergangenen Oktober 1,26 Millionen Dollar.
