Prozession des britischen Königspaars zur Westminster Abbey begonnen
In London hat die Prozession von König Charles III. und Königin Camilla zur Krönung in der Westminster Abbey begonnen. In der Diamond Jubilee State-Kutsche begann das Königspaar am Samstagvormittag die Fahrt zu der Kirche. Entlang des Prachtboulevards The Mall salutierten Reihen von Soldaten und riefen "God save the king", während die von sechs Pferden gezogene prunkvolle Kutsche vorüberfuhr.
Tausende Menschen säumen die Prozessionsstrecke. Eingefleischte Royal-Fans haben teilweise schon seit Tagen vor Ort campiert, um sich gute Plätze zu sichern.
Die feierliche Krönungszeremonie beginnt am Mittag. An der etwa zweistündigen, jahrhundertealten Traditionen folgenden Zeremonie nehmen etwa 2300 Gäste teil, darunter Mitglieder anderer Königshäuser sowie Staats- und Regierungschefs wie Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Die Feier wird rund zwei Stunden dauern. Anschließend wird das Königspaar in einer goldenen Kutsche zum Palast zurückkehren. Am Nachmittag wird es sich auf dem Balkon des Buckingham-Palasts zeigen und einen Überflug der Royal Air Force verfolgen.
