Neun Königspythons innerhalb weniger Tage im Emsland entdeckt
Im Emsland in Niedersachsen sind innerhalb weniger Tage neun Königspythons entdeckt worden. Zuletzt stießen die Behörden während einer Absperrungsmaßnahme auf eine Würgeschlange, wie ein Gemeindesprecher in Dörpen am Donnerstag sagte. Die Tiere kamen allesamt in den Tierpark in Nordhorn. Die Herkunft der Schlangen war zunächst unklar.
Erstmals waren demnach Passanten am 19. August in einem abgelegenen Teichbiotop in der Gemeinde Walchum im Kreis Emsland auf eine Python gestoßen. Es folgten weitere Funde von Passanten in unmittelbarer Nähe. Am Dienstag wurde das betroffene Areal dann abgesperrt, wobei die bislang letzte Schlange gefunden wurde.
"Wir haben noch keine handfesten Erkenntnisse über die Herkunft der Schlangen", sagte der Sprecher. "Aber es deutet alles darauf hin, dass die Tiere ausgesetzt wurden." Pythons könnten sich bei den gegebenen klimatischen Bedingungen vor Ort nicht von selbst vermehren. Die Polizei nahm Ermittlungen auf.
