Bauernverband lehnt steigende Fleischpreise für mehr Tierwohl ab
Der Deutsche Bauernverband (DBV) hat auch dem Vorschlag einer Mehrwertsteuererhöhung auf Fleisch zur Finanzierung des Umbaus der Tierhaltung eine Absage erteilt. "Eine Mehrwertsteuererhöhung auf den Regelsatz oder einen Tierwohlcent lehnen wir ab", erklärte Verbandspräsident Joachim Rukwied am Mittwoch. "Das Geld für den Tierwohlumbau muss aus dem Bundeshaushalt kommen."
Die Zukunftskommission Landwirtschaft (ZKL) - ein Expertengremium, in dem auch der DBV vertreten ist - hatte sich zuvor für eine Finanzierung über die Mehrwertsteuer ausgesprochen. Bundeslandwirtschaftsminister Cem Özdemir (Grüne) hatte im Februar seinerseits eine Verbrauchssteuer, den sogenannten Tierwohlcent, vorgeschlagen. Für den Weg über die Mehrwertsteuer zeigte er sich am Mittwoch ebenfalls offen.
"Voraussetzung ist dabei, dass dieser Weg auch von der deutschen Landwirtschaft unterstützt wird", schränkte Özdemir allerdings ein. Was allerdings nicht gehe, "ist, jeden machbaren Vorschlag abzulehnen und keine konsensfähige Alternative vorzulegen".
Die ZKL ist ein Beratungsgremium der Bundesregierung. Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD) hat die Expertinnen und Experten für Donnerstag zum Gespräch ins Kanzleramt geladen. Bei der Gelegenheit soll auch ein Eckpunktepapier zur Sprache kommen, das unter anderem den Vorschlag für eine Anhebung des reduzierten Mehrwertsteuersatzes für tierische Produkte von derzeit sieben Prozent enthält.
