Weltkriegsbombe in Mainz erfolgreich entschärft - Sperrungen aufgehoben
Eine Bombe aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg ist am Freitag in Mainz erfolgreich entschärft worden. Alle Sperrungen rund um den Fundort wurden aufgehoben, wie die Stadt mitteilte. Die 500 Kilogramm schwere Bombe war am Mittwoch bei Bauarbeiten entdeckt worden. Die Polizei richtete einen Sperrkreis von rund 750 Metern ein. Etwa 3500 Menschen mussten das Gebiet verlassen.
Im Sperrgebiet lagen zwei Gewerbegebiete, drei Kindertagesstätten, ein Altenheim und eine Flüchtlingsunterkunft. Auch der Teile der Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität und der Fachhochschule waren betroffen. Durch die Sperrungen kam es zu Einschränkungen im öffentlichen Nahverkehr und zu Verkehrsbeeinträchtigungen.
