Mehr als 200 Millionen Menschen nutzen Bezahldienst von Spotify
Rund 205 Millionen Menschen haben zum Jahreswechsel die Bezahldienste des Musik-Streaming-Dienstes Spotify genutzt. Das teilte das Unternehmen am Dienstag in Stockholm mit. Mit dem Überschreiten der Schwelle von 200-Millionen zahlenden Nutzerinnen und Nutzern übertraf Spotify deutlich vorherige Erwartungen. Allerdings vergrößerten sich auch die Verluste des schwedischen Unternehmens.
Spotify hatte vergangene Woche die Streichung von 600 seiner rund 10.000 Stellen angekündigt, um Kosten zu senken. Die Verluste des Unternehmens wurden für das vergangene Jahr mit 430 Millionen Euro angegeben, vor allem wegen hoher Investitionen. Ein Jahr zuvor waren es 34 Millionen Euro gewesen. Dennoch fiel der aktuelle Verlust etwas geringer aus als erwartet.
Auch die Einnahmen im Gesamtjahr 2022 legten um 21 Prozent auf 11,7 Milliarden Euro zu. Die Zahl seiner Nutzer insgesamt, also einschließlich der kostenlosen Version des Streaming-Dienstes, gab Spotify zum Jahresende mit 489 Millionen an.
