Inflation in der Eurozone schwächt sich zum dritten Mal ab
Lichtblick für die Verbraucher: Die Inflation im Euroraum hat sich im Januar den dritten Monat in Folge abgeschwächt. Die Verbraucherpreise stiegen im Jahresvergleich um 8,5 Prozent, wie das EU-Statistikamt Eurostat am Mittwoch in einer ersten Schätzung in Luxemburg mitteilte. Im Dezember hatte die Teuerungsrate noch bei 9,2 Prozent gelegen, nach einem Allzeithoch von 10,6 Prozent im Oktober.
Vor allem die Energiepreise stiegen in den 20 Euro-Ländern im Schnitt weniger stark als erwartet. Mit 17,2 Prozent bleiben sie aber Hauptfaktor für die Teuerung. Lebensmittel, Alkohol und Tabak verteuerten sich laut Eurostat mit 14,1 Prozent ebenfalls stark.
Die Inflationsrate in der Eurozone liegt zwar immer noch weit über den zwei Prozent, die die Europäische Zentralbank (EZB) in Frankfurt am Main empfiehlt. Im Jahresverlauf erwarten Experten aber eine weitere Entlastung für Verbraucher und Wirtschaft.
Für Deutschland gab Eurostat keine Schätzung bekannt. Die Zahlen des Statistischen Bundesamts werden aus technischen Gründen ausnahmsweise erst kommende Woche veröffentlicht. Die Inflation in Deutschland hatte in den vergangenen Monaten nahe am EU-Durchschnitt gelegen.
