First Citizens Bank übernimmt insolvente Silicon Valley Bank
Das US-Finanzinstitut First Citizens Bank übernimmt die insolvente Silicon Valley Bank (SVB). Wie der Bundeseinlagensicherungsfonds FDIC in der Nacht zum Montag mitteilte, kauft die Bank sämtliche Einlagen und Kredite der geschlossenen Bank. Die Transaktion umfasst demnach Einlagen in Höhe von 119 Milliarden Dollar (110,5 Milliarden Euro) sowie zusätzlich 72 Milliarden Dollar an Vermögen.
Die 17 Filialen der SVB sollen am Montag unter dem Namen First Citizens öffnen und Kunden der SVB würden "automatisch" zu Kunden der neuen Bank, hieß es weiter. Für die Sicherung der Einlagen bleibt weiterhin der FDIC verantwortlich.
Die SVB war nach Vermögen die 16. größte Bank der USA und ein wichtiger Geldgeber vor allem für Startups. Sie war nach einem Ansturm auf die Konten Anfang März von den Behörden geschlossen worden. Der SVB-Kollaps ist die größte Bankenpleite in den USA seit der Finanzkrise 2008 und sorgte für erhebliche Turbulenzen im Bankensektor und an den Börsen - auch in Europa.
