Schweizer Großbank UBS holt früheren Chef Sergio Ermotti zurück
Die Schweizer Großbank UBS holt ihren früheren Chef Sergio Ermotti zurück ins Unternehmen. Wie die Bank am Mittwoch mitteilte, soll Ermotti die Phase der Übernahme der Krisenbank Credit Suisse durch die UBS begleiten. Ermotti, der das Schweizer Finanzinstitut bereits neun Jahre lang geleitet hatte, soll den Posten am 5. April von dem derzeitigen Chef Ralph Hamers übernehmen.
Der derzeitige Chef habe eingewilligt, sich im Interesse der neuen fusionierten Bank, des Finanzsektors und des Landes zurückzuziehen, hieß es. Er bleibe aber während der Übergangszeit noch an Ermottis Seite. Der neue Chef sprach von großen Herausforderungen angesichts der Übernahme.
Die kurzfristige Übernahme von Credit Suisse durch die größte Schweizer Bank UBS für rund drei Milliarden Schweizer Franken war am 19. März bekanntgegeben worden. Der Schweizer Bundespräsident Alain Berset sagte, die Übernahme sei die beste Lösung, um verlorengegangenes Vertrauen wiederherzustellen. Beide Institute gehören zu den 30 Banken weltweit, die als systemrelevant eingestuft werden.
Ermotti hatte von 2011 bis 2020 bereits an der Spitze der UBS gestanden und der Bank nach der Finanzkrise wieder zu Stabilität und Ansehen verholfen. Danach wechselte zum Rückversicherer Swiss Re.
