Biden sagt Ukraine anhaltende Unterstützung zu
US-Präsident Joe Biden hat der Ukraine in seiner Rede zur Lage der Nation die anhaltende Unterstützung der USA im Krieg gegen Russland zugesichert. Biden wandte sich in der sogenannten State of the Union Address im Kongress am Dienstagabend (Ortszeit) an die eingeladene ukrainische Botschafterin in den USA, Oksana Markarova, und betonte, die USA seien "vereint" in der Unterstützung für deren Land.
"Wir werden an Ihrer Seite stehen, so lange es dauert", versprach der Präsident. Die USA sind der wichtigste Unterstützer der Ukraine im Krieg gegen Russland und liefern im großen Umfang Waffen und andere Rüstungsgüter an Kiew. Bei den oppositionellen Republikanern gibt es allerdings Politiker, die den umfassenden US-Hilfen für die Ukraine kritisch gegenüberstehen.
