Högl fordert Diskussion über mögliche neue Form von Wehrpflicht
Die Wehrbeauftragte des Bundestags, Eva Högl (SPD), hat sich für eine gesellschaftspolitische Diskussion über die mögliche Einführung einer neuen Art von Wehrpflicht ausgesprochen. "Wir müssen die Debatte jetzt beginnen", sagte sie der "Augsburger Allgemeinen" (Mittwochsausgabe). Es gehe dabei auch um die Frage, "wie viel Zwang, wie viel Freiwilligkeit nötig ist".
Die Wehrbeauftragte zeigte sich erfreut, dass die Wehrpflicht-Debatte wieder an Fahrt gewonnen habe. Es müsse langfristig aber um neue Formen gehen. "Ich will nicht zur alten Wehrpflicht zurück", betonte Högl. "Es würde Jahre dauern, bis man überhaupt Konzepte hat, bis die Infrastruktur und Ausbildungskapazitäten aufgebaut wären." Allerdings ist nach Ansicht der SPD-Politikerin eins klar: "Wir brauchen auf jeden Fall mehr Personal bei der Bundeswehr."
Ausgelöst hatte die neue Debatte um die Wehrpflicht der neue Bundesverteidigungsminister Boris Pistorius (SPD). Er hatte Ende Januar in einem Interview mit der "Süddeutschen Zeitung" die Aussetzung der Wehrpflicht 2011 als "Fehler" bezeichnet. Demnach war die Wehrpflicht unter anderem wichtig gewesen, um in der Gesellschaft einen stärkeren Bezug zur Bundeswehr zu haben.
