Wichtige Regional- und Kommunalwahlen in Spanien
In Spanien finden am Sonntag Regional- und Kommunalwahlen statt. Rund 35 Millionen Wählerinnen und Wähler sind aufgerufen, die Parlamente von zwölf der 17 spanischen Regionen zu wählen. Außerdem werden die Gemeinderäte in den rund 8100 Kommunen des Landes bestimmt. Der Urnengang gilt als wichtiger Gradmesser für die zum Jahresende anstehende nationale Parlamentswahl, bei der über das Schicksal der Minderheitsregierung des sozialdemokratischen Ministerpräsidenten Pedro Sánchez entschieden wird.
In zehn der zwölf Regionen, in denen am Sonntag abgestimmt wird, regiert die sozialdemokratische PSOE. Die konservative Volkspartei (PP) hofft darauf, in bis zu sechs dieser Regionen die PSOE abzulösen. Aus einem solchen Wahlerfolg will die PP unter Parteichef Alberto Núñez Feijóo Schwung für die nationale Parlamentswahl gewinnen, deren genauer Termin noch nicht feststeht. Der Wahlkampf zu den Kommunal- und Regionalwahlen wurde von Skandalen um mutmaßlichen Stimmenkauf an einzelnen Orten überschattet.
