US-Präsident: Die Welt muss sich auf einen langen Kampf einstellen
Im Konflikt mit Russland muss sich die Welt nach den Worten von US-Präsident Joe Biden auf einen "langen Kampf" einstellen. Bei seinem Besuch in Polen hielt Biden am Samstagabend eine kämpferische Rede im Königsschloss in Warschau und machte dabei Kreml-Chef Wladimir Putin erneut persönlich für die Verheerungen des Krieges in der Ukraine verantwortlich. Es gehe um einen Kampf zwischen "Demokratie und Autokratie". Der Ukraine sicherte Biden nachdrücklich die Unterstützung der USA zu: "Wir sind an eurer Seite."
Biden sprach auch eindringliche Warnungen vor einem weiteren Vorrücken Russlands aus. Russland solle "nicht einmal daran denken, einen Zentimeter auf Nato-Gebiet" vorzudringen. Russland habe bereits "die Demokratie stranguliert" und versuche dies auch anderswo. Die russische Bevölkerung sei aber "nicht unser Feind".
Biden war am Freitag zu einem zweitägigen Besuch in Polen eingetroffen, nachdem er zuvor wegen des Ukraine-Kriegs an mehreren Gipfeltreffen der westlichen Verbündeten in Brüssel teilgenommen hatte. In Warschau traf er auch ukrainische Flüchtlinge.
