Selenskyj dringt erneut auf weitere Waffenlieferungen Deutschlands
Der ukrainische Staatschef Wolodymyr Selenskyj hat sein Telefonat mit Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD) genutzt, um erneut auf weitere Waffenlieferungen aus Deutschland zu dringen. "Beim Thema Verteidigung habe ich betont, dass wir auf ein Raketenabwehrsystem aus Deutschland warten", sagte Selenskyj am Mittwochabend in seiner täglichen Videoansprache. Er sei Deutschland "dankbar für die Bereitschaft, bei der Luftabwehr zu helfen".
Der ukrainische Präsident fügte hinzu, er habe mit Scholz auch andere Verteidigungsfragen detailliert besprochen und davon gebe es "eine ganze Menge". Auch politische und finanzielle Fragen sowie das Thema Energie seien besprochen worden, darunter "die Lieferung von Gas nach Europa und die Sabotage an der Nord-Stream-Pipeline". Außerdem habe er mit dem Kanzler über die Vorbereitungen eines neuen Sanktionspakets der Europäischen Union gegen Russland gesprochen. Dieses müsse "wirklich kraftvoll, nicht symbolisch" sein, forderte Selenskyj.
Scholz und Selenskyj hatten am Mittwoch miteinander telefoniert. Darin sicherte der Kanzler nach Angaben der Bundesregierung dem ukrainischen Präsidenten nachdrücklich Deutschlands Unterstützung zu. Die Bundesregierung werde nicht nachlassen, "die Ukraine politisch, finanziell und humanitär sowie in der Verteidigung ihrer Souveränität und territorialen Integrität konkret zu unterstützen", sagte Scholz demnach in dem Telefonat.
Deutschland hat zur Unterstützung der Ukraine mit schweren Waffen im Krieg gegen Russland bisher vor allem Artillerie und Flugabwehr-Systeme geliefert. Anfang Juni sagte Scholz die Bereitstellung des hochmodernen Luftverteidigungssystems Iris-T SLM zu. Die Bundeswehr verfügt selbst nicht über dieses System, Iris-T SLM soll vom deutschen Hersteller Diehl geliefert werden. Es dürfte aber wohl erst in einigen Wochen oder Monaten zur Verfügung stehen.
