Stuttgart trennt sich von Sportdirektor Mislintat
Der VfB Stuttgart hat sich von seinem Sportdirektor Sven Mislintat getrennt. Das teilte der abstiegsbedrohte Fußball-Bundesligist am Mittwoch mit. Mislintat hatte demnach ein "absolut marktgerechtes Angebot zur Vertragsverlängerung" über den im Juni 2023 auslaufenden Kontrakt abgelehnt. Bis zum Trainingsstart am 12. Dezember will der VfB "die nötigen Personalentscheidungen treffen", auch über die Zukunft von Interimstrainer Michael Wimmer muss entschieden werden.
"Sven hat sich entschieden, unser Vertragsangebot nicht anzunehmen. Das bedauern wir", sagte Stuttgarts Vorstandsvorsitzender Alexander Wehrle: "Die Verhandlungen jetzt zu beenden, ist eine gemeinsame Entscheidung aller Verantwortlichen."
In der gemeinsamen Erklärung betonte Mislintat, der im Sommer 2019 vom FC Arsenal nach Stuttgart gekommen war: "Wir haben in unseren Gesprächen keinen gemeinsamen Nenner für eine Fortsetzung meiner Tätigkeit beim VfB gefunden. Ich bedauere das sehr, weil mir der VfB in den vergangenen Jahren zu einer echten Herzensangelegenheit geworden ist und ich gerne weiter meinen Teil zu einer positiven Entwicklung dieses großen Vereins beigetragen hätte."
Stuttgart liegt nach 15 Spieltagen mit nur drei Siegen auf dem Relegationsplatz 16. Wimmer hatte den VfB im Oktober nach der Entlassung von Pellegrino Matarazzo übernommen.
Als Nachfolger von Mislintat sind nach kicker-Informationen Rachid Azzouzi (SpVgg Greuther Fürth) und Marcus Mann (Hannover 96) im Gespräch. Zuerst soll ein neuer Sportdirektor eingestellt und dann die Entscheidung über den Trainer gefällt werden.
