Von 18 auf drei: Geiger stürmt in Lillehammer zum Podest
Kombinations-Olympiasieger Vinzenz Geiger ist beim Weltcup im norwegischen Lillehammer mit einer grandiosen Aufholjagd auf das Podium gestürmt. Der 25 Jahre alte Oberstdorfer lief von Platz 18 nach dem Springen noch auf den dritten Rang und meldete sich nach durchwachsenen Resultaten zum Saisonauftakt stark zurück.
Geiger lag nach einem Sprung von der Normalschanze und zehn Kilometern in der Loipe 39,2 Sekunden hinter dem Norweger Jens Luraas Oftebro. Mit Platz zwei machte dessen Landsmann Jarl Magnus Riiber einen Heim-Doppelsieg perfekt und nahm Julian Schmid das Gelbe Trikot des Weltcup-Gesamtführenden ab.
Schmid (Oberstdorf) überzeugte als Siebter erneut, vor ihm landete noch Manuel Faißt (Baiersbronn) als Fünfter. Für die deutschen Routiniers lief es durchwachsen: Johannes Rydzek (Oberstdorf) kam auf Platz 18, Fabian Rießle (Breitnau) wurde 19., Rekordweltmeister Eric Frenzel (Geyer) landete auf Platz 24.
