Mihambo legt los, auch Lückenkemper in Florenz dabei
Weltmeisterin Malaika Mihambo steigt am Freitagabend beim Diamond-League-Meeting in Florenz im Weitsprung in die Saison ein - und trifft dabei auf starke Konkurrenz. Unter anderem bekommt es die 29-Jährige mit Europameisterin Ivana Vuleta (Serbien), Hallen-Europameisterin Jazmin Sawyers (Großbritannien) und Tara Davis-Woodhall zu tun. Die US-Amerikanerin schaffte in dieser Saison bereits 7,07 m und ist damit weltweit eine von zwei Sieben-Meter-Springerinnen bisher.
Nach ihrem krankheitsbedingtem Trainingsausfall zuletzt geht Mihambo in Florenz noch von keiner Top-Weite aus. Ihren ersten Start in Europa absolviert Sprinterin Gina Lückenkemper über 100 m. Die Saisonbestzeit der Europameisterin liegt bei 11,00 Sekunden. Zudem sind mit Diskuswerferin Shanice Craft und Hochspringer Tobias Potye zwei weitere DLV-Athleten am Start.
Das mit Spannung erwartete und von den Top-Sprintern angeheizte Duell zwischen 100-m-Olympiasieger Marcell Jacobs (Italien) und Weltmeister Fred Kerley (USA) fällt hingegen aus. Jacobs sagte seinen Start wie zuletzt schon für Rabat erneut wegen Rückenbeschwerden ab. "Ich wünsche ihm einfach nur Gesundheit und dass er wieder zu 100 Prozent gesund wird", sagte Kerley, nachdem sich die beiden Rivalen zuletzt über die Sozialen Medien verbale Giftpfeile hin- und hergeschickt hatten.
