Schock für Bayer: Kreuzbandriss bei Wirtz
Jung-Nationalspieler Florian Wirtz wird dem Fußball-Bundesligisten Bayer Leverkusen lange fehlen und muss auch auf dem Weg zur WM 2022 einen großen Rückschlag einstecken. Der 18-Jährige erlitt am Sonntag bei der Derby-Niederlage gegen den 1. FC Köln (0:1) einen Riss des vorderen Kreuzbands im linken Knie, das teilte Bayer am Abend nach einer MRT-Untersuchung mit.
Wirtz fällt damit wohl in jedem Fall für den Rest der Saison aus, die WM in Katar steigt in diesem Jahr allerdings erst im Winter: Bis zum Start des Turniers bleiben Wirtz noch acht Monate.
Gegen Köln hatte sich Wirtz schon in der ersten Hälfte im Zweikampf mit Luca Kilian das Knie verdreht, nach minutenlanger Behandlung wurde er auf einer Trage vom Feld gebracht (28.).
