Furioses Finish: Bol führt Niederlande zu Staffel-Gold
Femke Bols WM startete mit einem Sturz - und endete mit einem Spektakel: Die Starsprinterin hat die 4x400-m-Staffel der Niederlande mit einem fulminanten Finish zum WM-Titel geführt. Bei der letzten Entscheidung im Rahmen der Titelkämpfe in Budapest spurtete die 23-Jährige kurz vor dem Ziel noch an Großbritannien (3:21,04) und Jamaika (3:20,88) vorbei und sicherte dem Oranje-Quartett in 3:20,72 Minuten die Goldmedaille.
Bol feierte damit ihren zweiten WM-Titel in Ungarn, zuvor hatte sie bereits über 400 m Hürden triumphiert. Auch mit der Mixed-Staffel über 4x400 m hatte die Schlussläuferin am ersten Wettkampftag auf Goldkurs gelegen, war jedoch kurz vor dem Ziel gestürzt.
Der Titel über die 4x400 m der Männer ging an die USA, die mit insgesamt 12-mal Gold, 8-mal Silber und 9-mal Bronze souverän den Medaillenspiegel gewannen.
Beide deutsche Staffeln konnten sich nicht für die Finals qualifizieren.
