La sonde Voyager 1 transmet de nouveau ses données pour la première fois depuis des mois
La sonde Voyager 1, l'objet créé par l'humanité le plus éloigné de la Terre, a transmis des données lisibles pour la première fois depuis cinq mois, a déclaré lundi la Nasa.
La sonde, qui se trouve à environ 24 milliards de kilomètres de nous, n'envoyait plus de données scientifiques et techniques fiables sur son état depuis novembre, a expliqué l'agence spatiale américaine.
Les équipes de la Nasa pouvaient toutefois toujours lui envoyer des ordres et la sonde, lancée il y a plus de 46 ans, continuait à opérer normalement.
Le problème venait d'une puce de l'un des ordinateurs de bord, chargé de mettre en forme les données scientifiques et techniques avant de les envoyer vers la Terre. Une solution ingénieuse pour déplacer le code nécessaire a finalement été trouvée.
La Nasa a pu vérifier l'état de santé du vaisseau pour la première fois depuis novembre, et continuera à mettre en oeuvre la même solution pour récupérer les données scientifiques.
Avec sa jumelle Voyager 2, les deux sondes sont les seules à voyager dans l'espace interstellaire. Elles emportent à bord des enregistrements de sons et d'images de la Terre sur des plaques en or et en cuivre.
