UNO: Internationale Klima-Zusagen reichen nicht für 1,5-Grad-Ziel
Die von den einzelnen Staaten bisher gemachten Zusagen im Kampf gegen den Klimawandel reichen nach Angaben der Vereinten Nationen bei weitem nicht aus, um das 1,5-Grad-Ziel zu erreichen. Vielmehr laufen die internationalen Verpflichtungen derzeit auf eine Erderwärmung von 2,5 Grad Celsius im Vergleich zum vorindustriellen Zeitalter hinaus, wie aus einem am Mittwoch veröffentlichten Bericht des UN-Klimasekretariats hervorgeht.
"Wir sind nicht einmal ansatzweise im erforderlichen Tempo und Umfang der Emissionsreduktion, um das 1,5-Grad-Ziel zu erreichen", erklärte UN-Klimachef Simon Stiell. "Um dieses Ziel am Leben zu erhalten, müssen die nationalen Regierungen ihre Klima-Aktionspläne jetzt verbessern."
Im Pariser Klimaabkommen von 2015 hat sich die internationale Gemeinschaft verpflichtet, die Erderwärmung auf deutlich unter zwei Grad, möglichst aber auf 1,5 Grad im Vergleich zum vorindustriellen Zeitalter zu begrenzen. Wie dieses Ziel doch noch erreicht werden könnte, darüber wird ab dem 6. November bei der Weltklimakonferenz im ägyptischen Scharm el-Scheich beraten.
