Behörden warnen vor Sturmflut in Hamburg und an Nordseeküste
Die Behörden haben für Mittwoch eine Sturmflutwarnung für die deutsche Nordseeküste und die an der Elbe gelegene Millionenstadt Hamburg herausgegeben. Das im Tageslauf zu erwartende Hochwasser werde je nach Region zwischen 0,75 und 1,50 Meter höher ausfallen als normal, teilte der Sturmflutwarndienst des Bundesamts für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie (BSH) in Hamburg mit. Insbesondere im nördlichen und östlichen Teil Deutschlands herrscht derzeit stürmisches Wetter vor.
Für Hamburg wurde nach Angaben des Lagezentrums der Polizei am Mittag eine Sturmflut mit einem Wasserstand von 1,25 bis 1,75 Metern über dem mittleren Hochwasser erwartet. Wasserstände in diesem Bereich stellen kein großes Problem dar, es wird lediglich die unterste Stufe der Warnskala erreicht.
Laut Behörden werden bei Wasserständen in diesem Bereich nur bestimmte Zonen im Hafengebiet und am Elbufer überflutet, etwa der Fischmarkt im Stadtteil St. Pauli und Parkplätze in Neumühlen. Erst ab etwa zwei Metern kommt es zu ersten Überflutungen beispielsweise in der Hafencity, wo Gebäude aber aufgrund ihrer exponierten Lage besonders gesichert sind.
Ernsthafte Gefahr für ungeschützte größere Gebiete Hamburgs besteht erst ab einer sogenannten sehr schweren Sturmflut von etwas mehr als fünf Metern über einem mittlerem Hochwasser. In diesem Bereich wird die Bauhöhe von Hochwasserschutzanlagen erreicht. Eine so hohe Flut gab es nach Angaben der Stadt noch nie. Die bislang höchste Flut in Hamburg wurde 1976 mit einem Wasserstand von annähernd 4,50 Metern über mittlerem Hochwasser gemessen.
